Private Instruction
Welcome to the joy of
music. This page will explain the importance of music, scheduling,
fees, and a little about myself.
Music instils
self-discipline. It incorporates both math and reading. Being and art,
music stimulates creativity, logic, order, imagination, and evokes
emotion. A musician cannot function on playing notes on a printed page
alone, but has to use all senses to perform music with spirit.
My teaching philosophy
uses standard teaching methods along with my own personal pedagogy.
Sight reading, ear training, individualized assessment, and
performance techniques are essential in order to be a competent
musician. Most importantly, a fun atmosphere is essential for young
students to enjoy music.
Scheduling
Lessons are weekly, usually running 30-40 minutes. Hourly lessons are
also offered for advanced students. Times are arranged in the
afternoon/evenings on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Lessons
are currently being taught in a private home studio with a 6' grand
piano.
Practice
Learning a musical instrument
does require practicing. At least 20 minutes a day should be
allotted for practice to ensure that pieces are learned and technique
is practiced and mastered. Practice should always be enjoyable
and rewarding.
FEES
A fixed monthly payment will be
due at the beginning of each month, usually at the first lesson of the
month. Check and cash are accepted. If you wish, you may
also pay by PayPal but an extra fee will be included for use of PayPal.
Summer
Lessons
Lessons
are taught in the summer upon request. Summer lessons are a more
relaxed environment. It is important for new students to continue
lessons year round so that the pupil will not lose any information
taught during the school year.
